SIR – Following the recent news (T&A, October 13) that Labour councillor Val Slater wants a “consistent policy” on memorial benches (pictured), I can’t help thinking this is a complete waste of time and money.
Earlier this year a polite request was made for a bench to be placed locally in memory of a much-loved Baildon resident but this was refused point-blank by Cllr Slater. How was she able to make this decision unilaterally without guidance from a policy?
Cllr Debbie Davies (Conservative, Baildon ward), Hartlington Court, Baildon
