SIR - One thing I have realised since I became a district councillor is the strength of feeling about school places.

I am pleased to see that local parents from Addingham to Menston are being proactive by instigating a petition asking Bradford Council to be proactive in seeking government funding to secure adequate school places in our area.

We know that our primary schools and Ilkley Grammar School are already oversubscribed and new housing developments will encourage more families into the area adding to the pressure for places.

We need more school places and possibly a new school to ensure that children do not have to travel to Keighley. Please support local parents by signing the e-petition here and click on live petition to add your signature.

There are also paper versions in local outlets to look out for. If they get 1,500 signatures they can ask for a debate in Council.
