SIR - Congratulations to the City of Bradford Brass Band for providing Bradford with some good PR.

In the recent National Brass Band Finals, the band gained a very creditable third place in the first section.

On top of this, they have recently gained promotion to the Championship Section in the world of banding. This means that they are classified alongside, and will be competing with the best bands in the world.

They are also forming a new band. This new band will no doubt bring prestige to our city in due course.

The new band will be called BD1, (after the Bradford postal district where they rehearse with the City of Bradford Band). There is already interest being shown in the new band including some very young players. Playing in a band develops teamwork and dedication.

Maybe this is just what today’s youngsters need as an alternative to technology. I’m sure that anyone interested will be welcome to go along and see for themselves the wonderful work being done in the name of our city. The Bradford area has long been renowned for its brass bands.

The City of Bradford Brass Band are proudly continuing this fine tradition.
