SIR - On Saturday, May 1, 2010 the Telegraph & Argus published a number of commitments from the Tories.
One of them was about various things the Conservatives would do to protect older people: “If you want a Conservative government on May 8, we will protect the winter fuel allowance, free TV licences, free bus travel and other key benefits for older people.”
Now we hear that the Coalition is considering cutting the fuel allowance and abolishing free TV licences for the elderly.
Don’t they realise that these benefits are helping thousands of pensioners to keep their heads above water?
But then again, they probably don’t care.
