SIR – I get to many parts of the North driving the company van.
In Oldham, there is a tram system, many miles from Manchester city centre yet it is there and locals use it to get into the city, either for work or pleasure.
Why is there a tramway from Oldham and not one from Halifax into Bradford, which is about the same distance? We in Bradford cannot go direct to Huddersfield by train, nor can we get to Dewsbury without having to go to Leeds firstly, change trains. Sheffield is another city with a tram system, probably other cities also.
