SIR - Yet another "bleeding nerve" conservative jumps into the debate on asylum seekers/bogus claimants/economic migrants with both feet.
G Drake (T&A, January 13) attacks "lefty Liberals" who "muddy the waters" with "emotional bleating": "There are...pedants...who would argue with a minute technicality or a particular word in its context rather than the debate itself".
Not so Mr Drake. I would gladly debate what to do with bogus asylum seekers/economic migrants, but not with someone who refers to them as "asylum seekers".
That would merely reinforce the mistaken notion that asylum seekers are all undesirables.
As for "pedant" and "minute technicalities" the sloppiness of terminology used by bleeding nerve conservatives is the kind of stupidity which leads to an upstanding pillar of society being attacked because someone does not know the difference between "paediatrician" and "paedophile".
