SIR - According to the T&A (January 11), Councillor Anne Hawksworth said: "I would encourage people to have their say on the city centre proposals."

So, before going to the National Lottery, let the Council be more visionary.

It has often been said that Bradford needs a symbol for the city centre to stand out from most other city centres, which are much of a muchness.

According to the T&A the city should have £100 million from the sale of the Leeds Bradford Airport, so let it not be wasted. Let us all benefit from this money which was invested by the ratepayers of Bradford and not have this money used for the usual city expenditure.

My proposal, instead of a lake, is a huge see-through dome covering the whole area.

The water shed from it could be led into water tanks below ground which could be used to water the gardens within the Dome.

This idea would allow shoppers and leisure seekers a haven in the city centre - whatever the weather!

I am 76 now and I won't benefit for long but the city will for donkey's years to come. So, for a change, think for the future, think big, think for Bradford!
