SIR – Perhaps Rob Higgie should have made it clear in his letter to the T&A, pleading for a UKIP candidate in Shipley at the General Election, that he is a Liberal Democrat activist and a keen supporter of the EU.
His plea is, therefore, not to benefit democracy, it is an attempt to get people who want to leave the EU to split the vote and allow a Euro-fanatic to be elected instead.
Mr Higgie’s letter is a perfect illustration of why UKIP should not stand in Shipley at the General Election, so that we can continue to be represented in Parliament by someone who campaigns and votes for the UK to leave the EU.
I do hope that UKIP members take note of what the EU fanatics in the Liberal Democrats want to achieve and not fall in to their trap.
