SIR – I feel sorry for my old socialist friend, Christopher Hindle, (Letters, May 22). How could he possibly expect me to have changed my views over the years?

The answer to all his foolish questions is clearly ‘no’, and as someone who was imprisoned for not paying Thatcher’s Poll Tax, I seriously object to his accusation thatall Tories are my bosom pals.

Banks were allowed to create the Anglo-Saxon crisis by lax regulation here under Labour, though principally in the USA.

If Mr Hindle wants me to change my views, he needs to provide evidence not unsubstantiated, silly, socialist statements.
