SIR – Well done to Hall Royd Area Residents’ Association for setting up an online petition against a supermarket development on the Crossley Evans site in Shipley (T&A, April 19) which deserves huge support.
GMI Developments, and their cohorts at Network Rail and DB Schenker Rail, should be thoroughly ashamed that they are appealing the decision by Bradford Council to refuse their application for a development on that site.
They must be fully aware that the vast majority of people living in the area are fully supportive of the Council’s decision to approve a Morrisons supermarket at Windhill instead.
That they intend to ignore the wishes of the people who would have to live with any consequences of their appeal, and want to ride roughshod over the majority view, tells us all much about how such developers operate. It is not a very nice mode of operation.
If they had anything about them, then they would now withdraw their unwanted appeal. But will they?
So let’s all add our names to that very worthwhile petition at tinyurl.com/ SaveCrossleyEvans.
