SIR – Do you know it is not very often I go out on a Saturday evening, but just recently I did that.
It was by chance I had seen a notice here in Clayton which told me of a concert which was to be held in the parish church. The message was that the Clayton Community Choir would be singing ‘Songs from Shows and the Movies’. Well, the temptation of such a delight was too much for me, so off I went and, do you know, I was very glad I did.
There were many well-known songs, well-presented, which were followed by a ‘singalong’, this reminded me of days long gone when in the cinema these could have been a small feature before the big film.
We together sang with enthusiasm, among others, songs from Oliver! and by The Beatles.
The choir was led by the talented and enthusiastic Rowan Russell who founded the choir. If and when the choir perform again, I urge you to be there.
Yes, it was different, but how we enjoyed ourselves. To quote from the song, it was ‘Some Enchanted Evening’.
