SIR – I hope that Bradford Council do not sit on their laurels now that the Westfield project is finally under way. It’s completion will certainly be an ace for Bradford, but one ace does not make a good hand.

What Bradford needs is a good market set-up. Most towns and cities around the world have very good and attractive markets.

Even local places like Otley and Skipton can show Bradford a thing or two about markets. A good market with enthusiastic and vocal/comedic stallholders are worth a fortune to any location.

If Bradford can resurrect their markets, they will have a pair of aces. This could see renewed interest from clients wanting to take up empty properties in the city centre, especially if the Council assist them by offering reduced rent and rates during their start-up period.

This will give us three aces. Investing in the tunnels/crypts/caverns under the city, if refurbished and marketed right would give Bradford four aces. Now that would be hard to beat. Come on Bradford Council, don’t wait for it to happen because it won’t. Make it happen.
