SIR – I see republican Tom Garner has popped out of the woodwork again (T&A, February 7) to gloat over the proposal by a select committee that repairs to Royal residencies should, in the future be subsidised by the occupants, including ‘Buck House’.
As a constitutional monarch, and given the present minimalist influence over affairs of the state, the Queen has always complied with decisions made by our bicameral Parliament.
Indubitably she will take this latest imposition in her stride like she did when agreeing to pay tax some time ago.
