SIR – I watched in disbelief a recent television news item, as two farmers on the Somerset Levels saw their animals and livelihood disappear before their eyes, due mainly to various MPs’ and Government departments’ total ineptitude over recent years.
Whenever other countries around the world have similar disasters, within hours humanitarian aid and hard cash is distributed.
I am not against this country showing this type of help to these people, far from it, but where our own needs to help our own citizens in similar predicaments is totally unacceptable.
