SIR – The decision by Labour-led Bradford Council not to support HS2 simply confirms the blinkered nature of those currently in charge.

That same group also do not support a cross-rail project for our city, which is one of the things that would be a massive catalyst for its regeneration.

Of course HS2 will benefit Bradford, making many more routes and journeys available once the scheme has been completed.

Likewise, the installation of cross rail would do exactly the same, as well as taking some pressure off the already heavily congested station in Leeds.

That our Council cannot see any of these benefits, or their importance for our future generations, tells us much about those currently in charge.
