SIR – Re the letter from Mr S Gardner. Once again we have the Republican politics of envy.
The Queen costs nothing when everything is taken into account – tourism, employment and all the other spin-offs – respected and held in high esteem for the exemplary way she conducts herself.
Who would replace her? President Blair, a multi-millionaire war monger?
What about the overpaid moronic footballers, fiddling MPs, robber banks, the list is endless.
Give me the Queen anytime, our heritage and culture.
