SIR – Having enjoyed reading Brian Holmans’s letter (T&A, November 14) about it being less hard work rowing from Scotland since the rower would be going downhill to Lands End, I must, before ever adversely criticising him again, make sure what he says is not with his tongue firmly ensconced his cheek!
