SIR – Michael Gove and Lord Nash, who join in vilifying Bradford schools, seem to have forgotten that their ministerial colleagues – Tories Eric Pickles and Kris Hopkins – have both been recent leaders of Bradford Council. So what were they doing about the schools?
Much of Bradford’s services to local schools were in the hands of SERCO. The effects on Bradford schools over ten years was poor and they have now lost this contract. The in-house service is getting better results. Now SERCO is seeking contracts from the Department of Justice for supervising offenders who leave prison, although the same department of government is investigating them for claiming payment for supervising people in the community who were back in prison.
Surely, Tory and Lib-Dem MPs, do you trust these people?
