SIR – At the extremely well-organised Bradford Business and Enterprise Forum on Thursday, Neil McClure, senior executive of Westfield, failed to use two crucial four letter words: we HAVE sold a specified percentage of the floorspace to make the project viable and we WILL start construction on a specified date.
Otherwise he merely rehashed what we have already read several times in the T&A. The flashy video must be growing whiskers for it was first seen at their marketing exposition at the Media Museum some years ago.
The heritage of the Bradford wool trade’s immense financial dealings with Australia was that a man’s word was his bond without any “ifs” and “maybes”.
Would that it were still so.
