SIR - We all look forward to a bit of over-indulgence and a well-deserved rest during the festive season. But all too often we find ourselves bored by Boxing Day, desperate to entertain the kids, and return to work feeling we've wasted the holiday.
Well, not this year! If you get sick of watching re-runs on the TV and want to try something a bit different why not take part - for free - in the national Festival of Winter Walks organised by the Ramblers' Association?
More than 400 special strolls, many with a seasonal theme, are planned across Britain between December 26 and January 2.
Most of the routes are between four and seven miles. Longer ones are generally arranged in a figure of eight format so that walkers can stay for either the whole day or half a day. Walks are open to everyone and many follow routes suitable for all the family.
For a full list of walks, call 020 7339 8500 or visit our website www.ramblers.org.uk/winterwalks.
