SIR – In reply to Mr Hindle (Letters, October 22), re my letter about our financial situation, I must say I am surprised to hear how you put all the blame for the mess on the banks!

I have no time for Goodwin and the rest of his greedy crowd, but, surely it was up to the Government to control the trough – especially as that crowd seem to have plenty of practice!

Most of my crowd of pensioners seem to live on around the lower thirties for a couple, OAPs only. I am trying to compare that with what a couple of job seekers draw (nobody seems to know) to see why they need food banks so much.
