SIR – I am in complete agreement with S Hussain’s letter concerning libraries (or lack of them) in Bradford (T&A, July 4).
Birmingham spends £188 million on a new library; even Halifax is spending £8 million on a new library. What does Bradford do? close its Central Library down.
This is a lack of foresight on behalf of the Council who will continue to run a low-wage economy because children are not given the correct facilities to study.
If Councillor Green states there is no money due to Government cuts over the last three years (£75 million), just what are his remaining 18,000 staff exactly doing? Could Coun Green give us the total wage/salary bill for his staff?
