SIR – Westfield have finally committed to starting to build in the final quarter of 2013. Thank you, Westfield, we are ever so grateful.
Thanks are really due to David Green, the leader of the Council, for ensuring that this episode is finally coming to an end.
He had to endure being on the receiving end of a game of toxic pass-the-parcel; the blame for the fiasco being laid on the latest person to have the unenviable job of sorting out the mess.
Those of us with reasonable long-term memory function know full well who are really to blame for this situation – Kris Hopkins and Jeanette Sunderland.
They were the politicians who allowed the situation to fester for so long; doing literally nothing to get things moving; they abandoned the centre of Bradford and concentrated their efforts in more fruitful areas, such as Keighley and Bradford East.
The Odeon is another case that proves my point. The blame for all of the delay should fall where it really belongs, with the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.
