SIR – At last, a letter suggesting a practical solution to the controversial occupation by travellers of the empty Buck Lane site in Baildon.
John Pashley’s proposal that the Council, through the traveller liaison officer, should come to a gentleman’s agreement whereby, subject to certain conditions, the travellers are allowed to stay until just before construction work actually starts (T&A, July 9) should be adopted without further ado.
It would be an arrangement on trust, but better than involving the police and courts to get them evicted, wasting taxpayers’ money.
Ten out of ten, Mr Pashley.
