SIR – Do any of your readers fancy climbing the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis to raise money for Yorkshire-based heart charity Heart Research UK on the weekend October 11-13?

At 1,344m (4,409ft) above sea level in the Scottish Highlands close to the town of Fort William, Ben Nevis has spectacular views of the Highlands and Western Isles and reaching the summit is not only a challenge but is also a special experience.

For those taking part there is no climbing involved as you will follow a path over uneven terrain at times, rising gradually in places with steeper and rocky sections, and guides will be on hand throughout the day to support and help you.

To enter, there is a non-refundable entry fee of £50 and your pledge to raise a minimum £500 (not including Gift Aid) for Heart Research UK – £200 of this is to be raised by September 15.

More than 2.6 million people in the UK live with heart disease – many cases are preventable. Treatments continue to develop but mortality rates are still too high and that’s why we need help to continue our work .
