SIR – The excellent T&A exposure of the failure of City Hall to enforce their own Planning Regulations and respond to complaints, and to take prompt and appropriate action, comes as no surprise to the ratepayers of this vibrant city. It seems that City Hall cannot even follow the basic rules when it comes to their own projects!

The totally unnecessary and ludicrously-over-engineered bridle path on the Council’s supposed hi-tech industrial estate at the Buck Lane site in Baildon was actually finished before they even thought to submit one of their own planning applications, let alone receive approval to go ahead with the scheme.

Instead of making the usual string of excuses, Councillor Val Slater should set a good example by managing the portfolio for which she is responsible. Professional competence should not cost the ratepayers a single extra penny. Are you keeping an eye on this kind of thing Mr Reeves?

D Walker, Hollin Head, Baildon
