SIR – I was dismayed to learn of the paltry sum being spent on the Bradford Central Library's relocation.
We are told that of the £9 million allocated to ‘the project’, £8 million will actually be spent on office space for Council workers. Are we really supposed to be impressed with a downsizing of the book numbers by 25,000 and an allocation of only 40 computers for a city our size?
In order to appreciate how we are being short-changed and undersold by our ‘do nothing’ local politicians, I would like to draw a comparison with the new library in Birmingham which will cost £188.8 million.
This is yet another example of Bradfordians having the wool pulled over our eyes and I, for one, would like to express my complete indignation.
