Valuable lessons SIR – I recently saw an article telling me about the spending review and and was horrified to find out that this may entail the closure of the National Media Museum.
I am an architect, originally from Bradford, and former pupil of Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, where I was fortunate to be part of a small group who were allowed to use the resources the National Museum of Film and Photography (as it was then known) had to offer in 1988. It was part of a school arts programme where we produced a series of prints using vintage cameras and lenses, to portray a document of historical (or otherwise) photographs.
The experience was meaningful, exciting and informative, and being part of this institution was truly memorable to us all.
Recently I went to visit my father in Bradford, and we met, as we usually do, in the museum. Noting that the entry to the museum is free (donation) we find this a great way to catch up on visits.
I have gone on to work in arts and technology. This is in no small way because of my experiences and a love of the museum.
I would ask everyone to please give this exciting institution your support.
Thank you, Bradford Media Museum, for the past years and the future we can all make happen.
