SIR – They were lambasted for loaning developers the money to complete Southgate Complex which now has a first-class Jurys Inn favoured by stars appearing at the Alhambra, and a new Provident Financial HQ which has safeguarded the jobs of hundreds of staff.

Then, despite being accused of wasting public finances, they created City Park enabling them to produce events that have attracted thousands of visitors and gained it numerous awards.

Now they are relocating the former Central Library to the city centre which will indubitably increase foot fall and, in all probability, boost the sales figures of nearby retailers.

Who says Bradford Council has not got its feet on the ground?
