SIR – If Sainsbury’s, as some claim, bought the site of the old Bradford & Bingley headquarters in Bingley just to keep out Tesco with no intentions of building a new store on it, then they have ended up with egg on their face, for Tesco have scrapped plans to build 100 new stores in the UK because of falling sales and profits and announced it would not be building in Bingley during 2013-14 (T&A, April 16).
Beware, good folk of Bingley, that’s how the Odeon site began in Bradford and look at it now.
