SIR – In my young, free and single days, I used to holiday in Benidorm in Spain twice a year with a half-dozen other girlfriends.
During the 1984/85 miners’ strike, the aeroplane we were on was always full of holidaying miners. We had a super time with them and they certainly knew how to let their hair down!
They weren’t as badly off as people were lead to believe or portrayed in the press.
