SIR – At long last noises are being made (T&A, March 20) within the Council chambers about the substantial salaries paid to chief executive Tony Reeves and other strategic directors.

Both the Conservatives and Lib Dems have criticised some of these packages, and it was disappointing that Labour Council leader David Green could only have a go at the other parties without considering whether the current salaries really are justified.

When one considers the shambles over which they have presided in recent times, one really has to ask whether Mr Reeves and director of regeneration Barra Mac Ruairi in particular have justified their massive salaries, or whether these should be amended to reflect the present situation?

In my view, the salary levels currently seen are simply not justifiable, and perhaps Coun Green could reconsider his stance and consequently benefit Bradford ratepayers accordingly?

One final thought – if this were to mean that certain senior staff were lost to Bradford, would we really notice any difference?
