SIR – Why does a Baildon resident want to open up a footpath in Idle which goes nowhere (T&A, March 13)? It’s a strange request.
Originally, this footpath had a use, but now that the area is built-up, there is an alternative route, one that is safe, clean, clear and readily open to the public.
Why does the anonymous Baildon resident want to put the Council to the initial cost of clearing this path?
Those who live alongside this path will subsequently have to bear the expense of its upkeep.
Does the Baildon resident really want to be responsible for the anxiety, distress, expense and renewal of criminal activity that opening this right of way will bring?
Please answer the questions, anonymous Baildon resident.
