SIR – I confess to stealing an apple off a neighbour’s tree when aged five. Would I be exempt from the “bedroom tax”? UKIP’s Jason Smith says criminals will be exempt from the tax while members of the armed forces will not!
Could it be that he means convicted criminals – ones in custody? There might be a good reason why such people (earning no money), are not expected to pay. In fact, do they pay any council tax?
Just a thought!
