SIR – My nephew was telling me about Torrs Hydro at New Mills when he visited me. It is a turbine generating electricity in an environmentally-friendly way. There is a safe fish pass for migrating fish to use and the turbine itself is friendly to fish.
It made me think about the proposal to install a turbine in the river at Saltaire. It sounded as if it would be a tourist asset and an added interest for visitors to Roberts Park.
Also it is being used as an educational project by children at a local school.
