SIR – With the high street struggling and many shops shutting, it’s good to see the Post Office fighting back on their behalf and poking shoppers, who go on line to buy products, in the eye with a sharp stick. I’m of course referring to the closures of local sorting offices.
This means that the usual convenience of picking up your package has been replaced with a visit to a strategically difficult-to-find and get-to sorting office. This, coupled with long queuing, sometimes outside in the cold, and having to walk back into town if you don’t have transport, with a heavy/bulky product (up to 20kg), means that many people may consider going back to what’s left of the high street.
There is, of course, the option of staying in all day for re-delivery, and hoping they knock loudly and don’t just shove another card through again.
Well done Royal Mail, making Mary Portas proud!
