SIR – So Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford International Airport’s commercial director, would like the Government to scrap ‘flight tax’ (T&A business, February 5).

Well, the ratepayers of West Yorkshire would like to see LBA scrap their own ‘flight tax’ inflicted in the guise of charges for picking up and dropping off.

It would be easy to go back to the old system of allowing eight minutes’ free entry to the terminal car park for dropping off and picking up, and by all means anyone requiring to stay longer to pay charges.

Why should the Government do away with your ‘back door tax’, when over the last two years you have been implementing and increasing your ‘front door tax’?
