SIR – What on Earth are our MPs playing at, asking for a 32 per cent pay rise which would see their salaries increase from £65,738 to £86,250?
There are hundreds of thousands of public service workers who have been told they will only get a one per cent pay rise over the next three years and the Home Secretary is cutting annual pay for new police constables by £4,000 to £19,000!
If they can’t manage on their current salaries plus expenses, tough. Many of their constituents are trying to survive on peanuts.
