SIR – Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are important. They will be involved in working out priorities and apportioning funding for the NHS health care of virtually all of us.

They meet publicly. I attended a meeting of the new Bradford Districts CCG shadow governing body at which members of the public were made very welcome, were listened to and had their questions answered.

Sadly, there were few there from the Patient Participation Groups based in GP practices. Stating patient views and needs is paramount for the CCGs to work in our interests.

I encourage everyone to find out from their doctor the time, date and place of the regular meetings of the CCG and to attend them. If we do not do this, we can hardly complain if the NHS develops in ways which we do not like.
