SIR – Once again, Bradford Museums has brought to us an exhibition of great quality.
I refer to the Sophie Ryder exhibition that has just started at Cartwright Hall.
I knew it was coming, but nothing really prepared me for two huge striking examples of her unique work, situated outside the gallery.
What a triumph! Huge statuesque figures made of wire that blew me away and gave a hint of what was to come inside the gallery.
In the hall itself, what a privilege to be able to see further examples of this internationally-recognised artist and sculptress’ work.
The subject matter is very personal to the artist, but I can say that it is very thought-provoking, and to be able to get up close to such examples of this intense work was a memorable experience.
We perhaps sometimes take for granted the simple pleasures of going to a park, an art gallery or such, but here, in Bradford, the tradition of exhibiting is, thankfully, strong.
Thanks to all concerned for bringing to our city another exhibition that once seen, will not be forgotten!
