SIR – Dennis Delaney says that instead of grumbling about the Government and the economy we would do well to remember and give thanks for all those who gave their lives for each of us (T&A, November 21).
People from all walks of life, like the unemployed, the homeless and those with limited resources who can’t pay their bills and buy food, have cause to grumble, but every year they fill to capacity the Royal Albert Hall to pay homage to the fallen and congregate in their thousands at the Cenotaph to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
What’s more, millions buy and wear a poppy with pride. Mr Delaney’s comments were ill-judged.
