SIR – Re Kevin Russell’s letter (T&A, November 30), ‘Left on the scrapheap’.
It’s a few years ago now, but times were still hard when I was made redundant at 60 after 22 years with the same firm. I, too, thought I was heading for the scrapheap.
In the next five years I had three jobs. Not much money, but a damn sight better than dole money. You might not be able to pick and choose these days, but I’m sure there is work out there if you are willing to take anything until the right one comes along.
If not, good luck in Leeds, Kevin. I’m sure we’ll miss you, but we’ll get by.
