SIR – While I agree with David Rhodes (T&A, November 5) about not being impressed by the candidates for the post of Police and Crime Commissioner on television, I suggest that he looks them up on policeelections.com.

There he will find that one candidate hasn’t been bothered yet to submit a picture or any information; one manages, in a six-line statement, to make three errors in English expression, thus showing an incapacity to think clearly or check what he writes; one sounds fairly lightweight in experience; and one has been chairman of the West Yorkshire Police Authority for ten years and has national recognition for his services. Maybe there are grounds for making a choice.

I’m just sick that most of the candidates represent political parties.
