SIR – Having just read the T&A, I can only say I continue to be amazed why Bradford Council has not cut back on the number of councillors.
If, as is reported, they are entitled to claim a basic wage, then surely they should come under the same rules as other workers on the Council and be eligible for redundancy? I can think of quite a few who would qualify as services no longer required.
As in most walks of life, some of the councillors are quite good at their job, whereas others are not and should be shown the door like any other job in life.
So come on, let’s see our Council leaders doing something that everyone would agree with (for a change), or will they just carry on drawing their 20k on average for doing very little?
