SIR – We all remember that famous English Institution, ‘The Pub’. There aren’t many of them left now, but if you are quick you can still spot them.

All these establishments had a figure in charge of them called ‘The Landlord or Landlady’.

These people had the right to admit or refuse admittance to whoever they chose, for whatever reason. As far as I am aware, they still have that power.

Could someone explain to me why the owners of the bed and breakfast were fined for refusing accommodation to the two gentlemen who were in a same-sex relationship?

Surely, as owners of a property – be it commercial or private property – you have the right to admit or refuse admission to whoever you choose!

They say they were acting in accordance with their Christian values, seeing the men’s relationship as immoral.

So, come on European Court of Human Rights, let’s not punish people for acting in what they believe is a moral manner, no matter what their faith.
