METHODISTS in Barnoldswick made a welcome and long-awaited return to their newly-extended and refurbished St Andrew’s Church centre in an open day of celebration and rededication.
After worshipping jointly at the Baptist Church in Manchester Road for two years, they were “home” at last. The day began with a coffee morning, a lunch of soup and sandwiches followed and tea and cakes were served in the afternoon.
A service of dedication and celebration was led by the minister, the Rev David Edmondson, with chairman of the Lancashire Methodist District, the Rev Paul Davis, as preacher.
The new premises were built with hospitality to the community in mind, and include a new entrance in Essex Street, a meetings and social area, kitchen and toilets and a rearranged worship area.
Mr Edmondson said: “It was wonderful to be able to offer a welcome to so many people. We very much hope our new building will prove to be a real asset to Barnoldswick.”
