A 22-year-old man has gone on trial accused of raping a young girl in a Keighley car park.

Baber Hussain is alleged to have had sex twice with the 12-year-old after the complainant, and another 14-year-old girl, had been drinking vodka and coke in a car being driven by Ashad Pervez.

The two girls, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were picked up in Bradford last May after the older girl had phoned Pervez on his mobile.

After stopping to buy the drinks from a shop, the girls were eventually driven to the car park behind the Fitness First gym in Keighley.

Pervez, 21, is said to have then driven off with the 14-year-old leaving the other girl and Hussain in the car park.

Prosecutor John Topham told a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday that the 12-year-old alleged that Hussain, of Thorn Lane, Heaton, had sex with her twice in the car park.

When she was later questioned about the incident by police she told them that she didn't want it to happen, but she had been drinking that night and felt a bit dizzy and not herself.

The 14-year-old also alleges that Pervez, of Victoria Court, Keighley, had sex with her after they drove off in the car.

Mr Topham told the jury that when Pervez drove back to the car park the two men 'swapped girls'' and further sexual activity allegedly took place.

Mr Topham said the younger girl refused to have sex with Pervez, but he tried to kiss her and gave her a couple of love bites on her neck.

Hussain is also alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with the 14-year-old.

Mr Topham said the girls had gone out in the early evening and it was not until 4am the next morning that a police patrol in Worth Way, Keighley, came across Hussain and the 14-year-old.

They were seen sitting on a wall and when police officers spoke to them the girl gave a false name.

After she was taken into the police car she broke down and gave officers her true name and age.

Pervez was also arrested after contact was made with the 12-year-old via her mobile and he drove her back to the car park.

Hussain has pleaded not guilty to two charges of raping a girl under 13 and a further offence of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Pervez has pleaded not guilty to two charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

The jury heard that Hussain's DNA matched semen found during a medical examination of the 12-year-old.

In his first police interview Hussain told officers there had been a third man in the car, but he later admitted lying about that.

He initially said he thought the girls were 17 or 18, but then said they had told him they were 16 and 17.

'He seems to be saying that the girl herself threw herself at him and she is the one who wanted sex,'' said Mr Topham.

Following his arrest Pervez elected not to answer any questions put to him.

The trial continues.
