Robbers armed with a three-foot-long stick threatened staff at a Bradford bookmakers last night.

The raiders entered Coral's in Sticker Lane, Laisterdyke, as two members of staff were about to close at 9.20pm.

One stood guard at the door while his accomplice threatened the staff with the stick and demanded money. The staff handed over a small amount of cash from the till and the raiders left the premises. No-one was hurt in the robbery.

Five armed robberies took place at bookies shops in Bradford between last November and January this year, including an evening raid on the same Coral's premises in January when two female staff were threatened with a handgun.

But Detective Inspector Gerry O'Shea, of Bradford South CID, said there was nothing to link the latest robbery to previous offences.

He said: "Some of the past offences have been successfully investigated and some people have been charged and are in custody awaiting trial.

"We always investigate if there are links to other crimes as a matter of course and that is what we are doing at this time."

Detectives are studying CCTV footage from the scene of the robbery.

The two suspects were both 6ft 2-3ins tall. One of them was wearing a dark hooded top with a Bentleys motif written in red across the front.
