SIR – Once again it is with regret that I have to protest most strongly over parking issues, associated with Saltaire festival. I live on Wycliffe Gardens and every year is the same, the road is choked by idiot drivers who park on the pavements preventing pedestrians passing, double parking, making it impossible for vehicles to pass on the road.
Having tried to approach a marshal on the Saturday, who had an attitude of “nothing to do with me guv”, I reported the problem to the police who duly, sent a PCSO who had little or no instruction and had no senior officer to guide her, so was unable to issue any deterrent.
On the Sunday I again reported the incident and was advised to try and talk to the people parking, only to be met with several comments, unprintable in a family newspaper.
I understand parking on the pavement is not illegal, however if pedestrians are unable to pass then it most certainly is. Parking on a junction is also illegal and downright dangerous.
I would like to ask the organisers, if you are having an event like this organise proper parking facilities.
