Bradford is well documented: The Civil War, becoming a city, The Industrial Revolution and so on.
However there seems to be one omission. I can find no record in the history books of the date or purpose of that famous edifice at the junction of Queens Road and Bolton Road. I am referring of course to the notorious three cones which have resided there since – who knows?
I am hopeful this letter will produce a response from a knowledgeable local historian or, better still, someone from the highways department or a utility company.
Philip Cragg, Bolton Road, Bradford
